Head Instructor: James Doyle is a passionate, lifelong, dedicated martial artist and instructor. He began his training in 1995 with traditional martial arts, achieved his black belt in Can Ryu Jiu Jitsu in 2001,began to teach in 2003, and  was promoted to 5th degree black belt in 2017.Through his teenage years, he studied as many martial arts as he could including Kickboxing, Muay Thai, Aikido, Judo, Keysi Fighting Method, Krav Maga, Systema, Kali, Escrima, and Jeet Kune Do.                                                                                                                                                                                              In 2009,after one life-changing, mind-blowing class, his study and obsession of Gracie/Brazilian Jiu Jitsu began. He achieved his blue belt in 2012 and was asked to start teaching in 2013.  2018 was when James passed the Gracie Combatives course and verified his rank with Gracie University as an official blue belt. He has completed Gracie University's Instructor Certification Program (ICP), and all Blue Belt Stripe Courses (BBS1-BBS4). He opened Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Ottawa in 2019 as a Certified Instructor.                                                                                                                                           James received his Purple Belt from Rener and Ryron Gracie in 2023 at Gracie University Headquarters in Torrance, California. Because of the tremendous positive impact Gracie Jiu-Jitsu had on him, James has dedicated his life to martial arts and is very passionate about sharing Gracie Jiu-Jitsu with everyone, especially complete beginners. He has a total of 20 years experience teaching and is happy to answer all questions about Gracie Jiu-Jitsu!  

Master Instructors: Ryron and Rener Gracie
Ryron and Rener Gracie are the eldest grandsons of Grand Master Helio Gracie, the creator of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu. Their father is Rorion Gracie, one of the world’s foremost experts in self-defense. In 1993, Rorion created the Ultimate Fighting Championship to showcase the supremacy of the family’s self-defense system in a realistic “no holds barred” confrontation against all comers. Rorion’s younger brother, Royce, won 3 of the first 4 UFC tournaments proving that the leverage-based techniques of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu provided the most reliable way to defeat a larger, more athletic opponent. Ryron and Rener are the Master Instructors of Gracie University of Jiu-Jitsu.
